Ra Page, 51, is a publisher and founder of Comma Press, in Manchester, England. He worked with Alareer on numerous literary projects and workshops over the years. They met in person in Gaza City, in August 2022.
There are still seven American men and one woman unaccounted for since the Israel-Hamas war began, according to the White House. Four Americans — a four-year-old girl and three women — have been released so far.
Separately, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh, the director general of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, told CNN that the Al Awda hospital in northern Gaza has been under siege for many days.
However, COGAT added that "no supplies will be entering the Gaza Strip from Israel and that all the humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip will continue to enter via the Rafah crossing in Egypt."
In his BBC interview as well defending the October 7 attacks, Alareer compared them to the 1943 Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which represented the largest Jewish resistance effort during the Holocaust.

"The decision was made in order to improve and upgrade the capabilities and volume of security screening of the humanitarian aid being admitted into the Gaza Strip via the Rafah Crossing in Egypt," COGAT said.
“It’s an archetypal Palestinian image of a discussion, a debate on should we stay in one room, so if we die, we die together, or should we stay in separate rooms, so at least somebody can live?” he said.
Israeli tanks are spread out in the northern area of the Jabalya camp, Dr. Munir Al-Bursh said.
