In autumn/winter you have some soaring possibilities or you can drive higher up into the mountains for example to Farellones for thermal flying on good days. Many sites do take about an hour or so to get to if you are living in the center, but there are also a few located closer to the city, like Pirámide, which is about 15-20 minutes from the city center by car and allows for fantastic evening thermal flying after work.
La Pirámide is located right in Santiago de Chile and allows for fantastic after-work flying ... pure luxury!
